Requiem - Clair de Lune
October 7 2016
In August, a colleague in the meditation center in Utrecht passed away. I was then in my hometown of Japan, doing the video recording. Just the moment I received this sad email in my inbox of email, a video camera caught the blue light. The picture of the piano disappeared from the screen by this much light. I did not know then about his passing. I just wondered what was happening on my video camera. After knowing the news, I felt that his soul was perhaps then going through this light.
The piece I was then recording was Clair de Lune. My last meeting with him in the meditation center -it was just two days before my leaving for Japan- he listened to the same piece, and he liked my play.
Although the purpose of this recording was for making an art video clip, I arranged the light and the piece Claire de Lune into another video as the condolences to him. Unfortunately, this video was not used in the funeral, nor in the reception. However, music sounds in the air. Music exists beyond the limitation of specific spaces such as the concert hall or church. I wish that my sounds vibrated well in the air and resonated into the heaven. I shall believe it could reach his soul saying thanks for sharing the time with me on this earth, wishing the peace for him.
